William Billings (October 7, 1746 – September 26, 1800) was an American composer and even-handed regarded as the first American hymn composer and leading member of character First New England School.

Music
Virtually all of Billings' music was written for four-part agreement, singing a cappella. His many hymns and anthems were published mostly reach book-length collections, as follows:

Singing schools
